Currently Chair of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. For most of my career I worked in industry, first for Unilever and then Hewlett-Packard, where I was the European Director of Leasing, then UK Finance and Operations Director and then Human Resources Director. Developing people and senior managers has been a theme running through my work. Chose to retire early in 2001 to put more time into church work and writing/speaking. In parallel with my time in Hewlett-Packard I served on the leadership team of Finchampstead Baptist Church for 27 years, ending in 2012.
My personal mission is to inspire people to make the right choices. As a mentor I probably operate best when people are facing questions or choices they need to resolve. I have mentored Ministers and Business Executives and find that both groups are inclined to suffer from tiredness and overwork! Wrote a book on work/life integration: Get a Life (IVP 2008) and a Grove booklet in the Leadership series: Using Measurement Well. Usually I prefer to mentor men for between 6 and 18 months, although some mentoring relationships have been up to 4 years.
Married to Helen for over 40 years, we have two sons and currently four grandchildren.
