I’m a working mum with a teenager. I have worked for Tearfund for the last 20 years and am currently a learning and development advisor specialising in leadership development and coaching. Previously I worked as a PA and as an accountant so I have a broad understanding of lots of organisational issues. I am responsible for our emerging leaders programme which we base on the CPAS Growing Leaders course. I also designed and instigated a coaching programme for the organisation with the vision that every member of staff would be able to have a coach if they so chose.
I coach and mentor a number of staff around the organisation at various levels of leadership in a variety of different subjects. I also convene a peer mentoring group of leaders as well. I also mentor in the church sphere, currently with an operations manager and a pastor.
I spend a lot of time helping people to understand themselves better using the Gallup CliftonStrengths tool. I also have a good understanding of Myers Briggs Typology and Belbin Team Roles.
I was ordained as a Salvation Army officer in 1997 and worked as a Church and community work leader in a small Corps. I was young and inexperienced and asked for help which wasn’t forthcoming. I knew there were lots of people in similar situations who would have appreciated help so in order to equip myself to be able to do this, I studied for a MA in Consultancy, Mission and Ministry at Cliff College. My aim was to be able to support others in a way that I wasn’t supported.
I have an ecumenical background having previously been a member of the Church of England, the Methodist and UR churches. I am currently a member of the leadership team of a growing Anglican Congregation.
